Join in the fun of Rock Retreat Run!

10/29/2015 by fellowflowers Leave a Comment

Confession. We are beyond excited about unnamedour first-ever national retreat, happening this November 5-8 in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona. 150 of you will be joining us from literally every corner of the country. We have gone through the flow of the event from the beginning to end, and end to beginning. We’ve asked ourselves, ‘How would WE want to experience something like this?’ We’re combining classic elegance with sweat and grit. We’re dancing and laughing into the night, and we’re running and hiking before the sun rises. We’ve picked foods that are fun and healthy, and we’ve created our signature cocktails for ladies to sip and enjoy.

And we want to share as much of the fun with you throughout the weekend.

Follow along as we’re inspired by TODAY Show anchor Erica Hill’s personal running journey and are taken through ‘a day in the life’ of Women’s Running Magazine editor Nicki Miller. Hang with us as we learn running form and treadmill tips from expert David Siik and dive deep into the art of intentional nourishment with nutrition coach Theresa D’Ambrose. Watch as we own our stories with speaker Celia Slater and learn how to ‘fight-fall-rise’ with storyteller Denise Logan. We’ll talk goals, running strong, living big and giving ourselves permission to chase dreams AND finish lines.

IMG_1738We’ll create the space for women to be brave with their stories and to connect with other women who get them, fully.

A crown jewel moment during the weekend will be the debut of our thirteenth flower, carrying with it a message that has been within us for the past two years and is finally ready for the world to see.

We will sweat, run, hike, laugh, cry, dance, sip, savor and just be. You won’t have to be in the room to be feel the love, energy and connection we’ll be sending you.

If you want to be part of the fun, check out #rockretreatrun on Instagram, Twitter and follow our Facebook page for photos, videos and takeaways. We know many of you wanted to be with us, but life got in the way. We get it. Rest assured, we are already looking at dates and possible locations for Rock Retreat Run in 2016. We hope you’ll join us then, but for now, we’ll share all of the fun with you.

Xo.

It was red, and she was unstoppable.

09/17/2015 by fellowflowers Leave a Comment

Three years ago at IRONMAN Wisconsin amidstIRONMAN_1 2,400 athletes I saw one woman wearing a flower. It was red, and she was unstoppable. I chased her down the street in giddy excitement. We hugged, and I told her how special it was to see her on the course.

Yesterday, I saw dozens, worn by competitors, volunteers and spectators. I saw countless people – men and women – rocking their flowers, and it took my breath away. I hugged more strangers than I can count and celebrated defining moments for some of my dearest friends.

I was humbled, honored and proud that the message of Fellow Flowers served as inspiration for these amazing athletes.

As my friend Angie Krey and I realized amidst conversation (and weepy eyes and full hearts while watching our husbands yesterday) it is an absolute privilege to witness those you love and care about claim and celebrate their truest potential as a human being. Having a front row seat to that transformation is a happiness and joy on a whole other level. There is nothing like spectating on Ironman day – you see true grit, resolve and heart on full display and it captures you unlike anything I’ve ever felt.

Weekend TODAY Show Anchor Erica Hill is Coming to RRR!

08/21/2015 by fellowflowers Leave a Comment

IMG_4826Since the moment we met Erica, we felt it. The ease, the connection and the feeling of, ‘wow, she’s just like us.’

When we met her back in April for our TODAY Show taping, sure, we were excited about the segment and the awareness it would bring to Fellow Flowers. Honestly though, it has been the friendship we’ve developed with her since that is by far the most precious outcome of that experience. When the segment aired, there was overwhelming feeling of gratitude for the depth and care of which Erica shared our story. Every single person we talked to said, “Wow, she really gets it, doesn’t she.”

Okay ladies.MOT_LogoTagline_Website_lowercase2
Do you ever wish you could cheer on your friend while she is out there on the course?

Maybe it’s her very first race or maybe she is going for a new PR or maybe she has a Boston qualifier in her sites. All you want to do is tell her how proud you are of her effort! Except most often, getting those inspirational words to her during her race is nearly impossible.

Introducing, Motigo, a new app designed to deliver personalized audio messages to your favorite runners (automatically) during their race so they can #runLOVED.

Seriously. How freaking cool is this?!?! As a runner, you can receive personalized messages from everyone who has been part of your journey WHILE you are running. As a supporter, you get to inspire and cheer on your runner through their race day miles. We’ve decided this is the best new app for women runners, and here our five reasons why.

The story behind Flower It Forward

07/31/2015 by fellowflowers Leave a Comment

flowers_floweritforwardHave you ever gifted a flower to someone else?

A very simple question that we’ve asked our community of women, sparking some of the most beautiful comments we’ve ever seen. Every woman writing with purpose of how giving or receiving a flower has transformed the way she runs, validated a friendship, created a deeper connection to something she’s already doing, or most importantly, changed the way she sees herself.

Yes, while we haven’t ‘received’ a flower per say, we, throughout the past three years, have been given the blessed privilege of ‘giving’ a flower. Sometimes one. Sometimes hundreds. What we get in return from the recipients…the inner joy, the warm hearts, the childlike excitement and deep feelings of gratitude…is priceless.

When does this happen?

How does this happen?

The honest answer is when our instinct tells us to.

And we’ve never regretted it.

Giveaway: The Ultimate Women’s Getaway Weekend

07/21/2015 by fellowflowers Leave a Comment

web RRR for FF

Can you believe there’s only 106 days left until Rock Retreat Run? (Not that we’re counting down like it’s our wedding or something ;)!) We’re getting really excited about enjoying a girls getaway weekend together, unplugging, waking up to a morning run in the sunshine of Arizona, being inspired by amazing sessions and workshops during the day, finding some renewal by the pool side and sharing cocktails, laughs and dances with you ladies by night. To say we can hardly wait is an understatement.

With the early bird installment plan (3 payments of $175) ending on July 31 and the early bird rate of $525 ending on August 31, now is the time to grab your spot before the prices go up or the event is sold out (yes, we do have limited availability). And for those of you who really want to attend but aren’t sure you deserve it, don’t think you’ll be able to save in time or are just praying for a Fellow Flowers miracle to run you over – well look no further.

We’re giving away one FREE registration to Rock Retreat Run in Scottsdale, AZ, November 5-8. Yes, you heard that right.

Starting Tuesday, July 21 and ending Sunday, July 26 at 11:59pm EST, you can enter to win a free Rock Retreat Run registration.

Here’s what you need to do to enter:

1. Choose ONE of the following questions to answer:

  • What about this weekend excites you the most?

  • What about this experience do you need the most?

2. Download and print this sign and clearly write your answer on the sign.

3. Take a picture of yourself holding the sign (feel free to get creative here ;))

4. Post the picture on one or all of your social media accounts and include the hashtags #RockRetreatRun AND #WomensRunning:

  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • Twitter

NOTE: Each social network you post your image to counts as one entry, therefore if you post to all three you receive three entries for a chance to win. Your posts must include the hashtags #RockRetreatRun AND #WomensRunning within your caption/status to count.

5. Take a photo/screenshot/screen grab of your image post(s) from one or all of the social networks you posted your image to and email the images to rachael@mixandshine.com with the email subject “Rock Retreat Run Giveaway Submission” by Sunday, July 26 at 11:59pm EST. Why are we requesting photos? Well, if you’re like us, you don’t have all your social media settings set to public, which means we wouldn’t be able to find your images in our search. By sending us photos, that’s all the proof we need.

NOTE: In order for your entry (or entries) to qualify you MUST email the screenshots to rachael@mixandshine.com as noted above or your entry does not count.

It’s as simple as that. So if you’re dying to attend Rock Retreat Run or really hoping your BRF/BFF would attend with you – here’s your chance. Good luck!

Q&A

I don’t use Instagram or Twitter. Does it matter if I only post a photo to Facebook?
It’s totally fine to only post to Facebook! This will still count as an entry into the giveaway!

So, I just take a photo of my photo? What exactly do I need to submit?
Yes, it sounds as literal as it seems. We are huge fans of screen grabs and screen shots, but if you want to just snap photos with your phone and email those, that works totally fine too!

This seems like a lot of work for a giveaway, wouldn’t you say?
You’re right, it is a bit of work, BUT if you win, you’re also scoring a $525 registration for FREE! So, we’re thinking that’s a pretty good return on your time investment!

I’m already registered – can I still enter the giveaway?
Yes! If you’re the lucky winner, you’ll receive a full refund for the registration you already paid for! Woot woot!

P.S. Contest rules and restrictions apply. By submitting your images you grant Fellow Flowers full rights to use your image on Fellow Flowers properties to include, but not limited to, social media, website, print collateral and more.

  • Fellow Flowers and the FFCrew have taught me how to be relentlessly ME and enjoy every step of my journey. They have also given me the greatest gift: a sisterhood of women who support, encourage and love me every step of the way.
    Lacey, Truckee, CA
  • My journey to find my wings began with the gift of a yellow flower (and then a turquoise flower, and a red flower). This flower was given to me by one of the most motivating woman that I have ever met in my life. At the time I had no idea where this flower would take me. It wasn’t until I crossed the finish line of the Gazelle Girl Half Marathon last year, that I fully grasped the power of that flower. As soon as I crossed the finish line, I knew, in that moment, that I was GOOD ENOUGH, STRONG ENOUGH, and that I had finally found my wings.
    Kelly, Grand Haven, Michigan
  • Every time I head out for a run and clip that flower in I know that I am not alone.  When I am at a race and I see another flower on the course, I instantly feel connected to her without even knowing her name.  It is such an amazing feeling!  I love being an FFCrew member and sharing my love of Fellow Flowers with other runners that I meet. I feel so lucky and blessed to be a part of this incredible group of supportive women!
    Katie – Fort Campbell, KY
  • Fellow Flowers has introduced me to an amazing group of women whom I can connect with on so many levels. As a busy working mom it’s hard to juggle daily tasks and find time to do the one thing that makes me feel the best which is running. Sometimes I feel alone in the struggle, but Fellow Flowers and the FFCrew remind me that I am not alone. I always look forward to sharing my post-run smiling selfies with other flowers and cheering on those who do the same.
