The many ‘hats’ I wear
Where do I start?! I am a wife to a wonderful man and mother to an awesome daughter who is already her own little person. I am a south-side Chicago high school counselor and supervisor to counselors-in-training. I am also a closet decorator. I will re-decorate your house…be careful
What makes your heart pound?
Anything that could harm my daughter. Bees, stairs, concrete…I jump at every wobble she makes. And Airplanes, I HATE them. There is so much to lose now. What can I say, I am a total control freak.
What gets you up in the morning? What keeps you up at night?
My daughter Every morning at 6:30 am on the dot. I am not a morning person by choice, but since I have to…work. At night, I do a lot of catching up on things after the kiddo is asleep. I am addicted to the Houzz app, I need an intervention to get me off that thing at night.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Science fiction tv…why read the book when you can watch it on tv…True Blood, Buffy, Zomie anything, if it’s sci-fi, I will watch it. And Glee. Yeah, I know.
What do you say to the woman who says she doesn’t think she can run?
You’re full of shit. If you can walk, you can run (this is not the nurturing, caring counselor in me talking here)
How do you want the world to remember you?
As someone who made a difference in someone’s life. As someone who lived the life they wanted to live. As someone who had a lot of love to give.
What running shoe are you most loyal to?
Adidas! They are bulky, but I love them! Like running on pillows.
What’s your go-to flower color and why?
Yellow, it is just so true, I GET to run. There is a lot of disparity, homelessness, illness etc in the world and I am lucky and blessed enough to not have these issues and to be able to run. To have running as a past time is a luxury that I do not take for granted.
Secret super power?
Mind reading…seriously, I can read your mind (you are thinking “What am I thinking right now”). I am also really good at parallel parking!
Who inspires you the most?
My husband; he is a zen rock star, I wish I had half his patience and positivity.
What are the five words that best define you?
I’m kinda a big deal, ha, j/k…comedian, nurturer, perfectionist, family-oriented, occasional ass-hole.
Caffeinated beverage choice? And how often you do you need one?
Starbuck’s Chai Latte. I only need one every once in a while, thankfully.
Oooh, so many, not enough space! But the short list…indecision, close talking, honking (I live in Chicago, can’t stand it, seriously, get out of your car and ring the door bell already)
Travel destination on this earth that’s calling your name?
Bora Bora…there are huts on the ocean people!
Why do you run?
Because I can. It’s as simple as that. I run because I am able to. I love knowing that I can achieve the goals that running offers.
The time of day that I love to run the most is…
In the morning when it’s quiet in the city.
What’s the life lesson you want to pass on to your children?
Follow your heart in all that you do and become and you will always be happy. Don’t be afraid to do something that makes you happy, even if it’s not the thing to do.
First words that come to your mind when you think of crossing a finish line?
